Boy charged in breaking and entering

The Halifax County Sheriff's Office investigated a residential breaking and entering in the Roanoke Rapids area and arrested a 17-year-old boy. 

Detective Rich Somogyi said in a news release Deputy C.T. Jenkins conducted the initial investigation.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Corey Lee Demick of Roanoke Rapids. 

Demick was charged with breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering. 

The property taken was recovered and returned to the victim. 

Demick was jailed and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 30.
