Two of the men shot, Joshue Medina, 24, of Roanoke Rapids, and Donovan Slyvonte Williams, 28, of Enfield, are listed in fair condition, according to Enfield Police Department Lieutenant Jerry Powell.
The other man, Jemel Markell Nicholson, 25, of Enfield, was treated and released.
The shootings occurred shortly before midnight last Wednesday and were the result of the three men and another person police continue to look for getting into an argument over a reported drug deal that went awry, Powell said this evening.
More than a pound of marijuana was found in the car, along with $3,000 in cash.
Once the argument ensued, two of the men were shot with a shotgun while another was shot with a handgun. The men were shooting amongst themselves in the parking lot of the 301 Market on South McDaniel Street.
Powell said in a news release on the matter, officers heard multiple shots and when they arrived found the three men, “suffering from various gunshot wounds.”
A fourth person, described as a black male standing 5 feet, 10 inches, to 6 feet tall was seen running from the scene. He was further described as having a slender build and being approximately 20- to 25-years old.
Powell and other law enforcement sources noted Medina is wanted in a truck stop shooting and attempted robbery that occurred this spring at Love's Truck Stop. He also has several outstanding warrants and is listed as a probation absconder.
