City hall confirmed this morning that Adam Bondarek, who was deputy chief, resigned.
There are no plans to immediately refill the position, Interim Police Chief Jeff Hinton said this morning.
“That would get approval from the mayor and council,” Mayor Emery Doughtie said of holding off on appointing someone else for the position.
Bondarek began his career with the police department in October of 1999 as a patrol office and was promoted to master officer in July of 2001. In July of 2003 he was named a detective and in 2005 became a sergeant in the Criminal Investigation Division. He was named interim chief upon Hinton's announcement of retirement in February.
His resignation was effective Monday.
