Roanoke Rapids Deputy Police Chief Adam Bondarek released a statement today thanking Captain Andy Jackson and Lieutenant Charles Burnette for their work while he was interim chief.

The statement of appreciation was also extended to all officers of the police department and civilian staff as well as department heads and other city employees.

"Overall the job was much the same as being the deputy police chief except that your phone rings  four times as much which I didn't think was possible just being the deputy police chief," he said.

Bondarek said he looks forward to seeing Jeff Hinton, who, after a vote Tuesday night by city council, will return as interim chief.

"I''m very proud of the policeman we have and our staff," Bondarek said. "They never missed a beat. I would like to thank the community because I had a lot of private and public support and I appreciate that greatly. I look  forward to serving the citizens of Roanoke Rapids as I have for many years now."
