Bobbitt wins; Smith and Clark win in Weldon

Incumbent Ernest Bobbitt has beaten challenger Jim Garrett in the only contested Roanoke Rapids City Council race.

According to unofficial results, Bobbitt beat Garrett by a 65.63 to 34.06 percent margin. There was one write-in vote cast.

Carol Harris Cowen, running unopposed for the council seat Ed Liverman will vacate, got 95.38 percent of the votes. There were seven write-in ballots cast.

Incumbent Carl Ferebee, who was also running unopposed, collected 97.37 percent of the votes with one write-in.

In the Weldon town board races, incumbent Walter Clark Jr. and Susan G. Smith won, each collecting 46.95 percent of the votes. There were seven write-ins.
