Highway 903 has been reopened following a gas leak at Reser’s, according to  the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Captain Jay Burch said the road was reopened around 10:30 a.m.

County Emergency Services Director Phil Ricks said the leak occurred shortly after 8:45 this morning during work on the Reser’s expansion when a backhoe hit the line and caused it to rupture.

Piedmont Natural Gas sent a crew from Tarboro and had the leak repaired around 10:30.
