Four people were charged this morning for allegedly smashing the front glass of the Verizon store and stealing more than $5,500 worth of phones.

Members of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department’s C Squad received the call around 1:30.

Officers checking the area stopped a suspicious vehicle, Deputy Chief Adam Bondarek said. He declined to say why the vehicle was suspicious.

Response to the call was, “Pretty instantaneous,” Bondarek said.

Arrested were:

They were jailed on $50,000 bonds and have November 10 court dates. They all face charges of breaking and entering, possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools. Brittany Grooms also faces a charge of driving with no operators license.

Bondarek said a blunt object was used to smash the store window.
